Rochester comes together to remember Trevyan Rowe

posted by JP -

While many questions remain about the circumstances that led to the death of 14-year-old Trevyan Rowe, the community is trying to heal. People filled the Blue Cross Arena for last night's candlelight vigil. Trevyan's uncle and mother expressed their thanks to the many who turned out to search for Trevyan and supported the family.

"If each and every one of us really want to honor him, it is my hope that we will stay one city. That we will continue to love, pull together, take care of one another, as we did looking for Trevyan," his uncle said.

His mom thanked everyone who attended. "I just want to thank all y'all who came out tonight. You just don't know. That so many of y'all came out for me and my babies."

Authorities have confirmed the remains found Sunday evening in the Genesee River were those of Trevyan. He was found near the 490 bridge -- where someone dressed like him was seen Thursday, about a half hour after he walked away from his school.

16-year-old Tian-Xing Stephens started a GoFundMe page for Trevyan’s family. In just a 17-hour period, nearly $16,000 was raised.
