TMSG: Trooper Saves Ten Puppies From Locked Trunk

An Oregon State Police trooper rescued 10 puppies during a traffic stop that were locked in a trunk without water while on a trip from Southern California to Seattle.

Senior Trooper and K-9 handler Travis Peterson stopped a 2008 Ford Fusion after "several signs of suspicious activity." Peterson conducted a consent search and found the puppies -- a mix of Huskies and German Shepards -- locked in the trunk without water or air conditioning.

OSP said it was 90 degrees at the time. The owner was cited for animal neglect. The puppies were taken to Jackson County Animal Services.

Jackson County Animal Services posted an update on the dogs and their current situation with the caption, "We wanted to update you on a story you may have seen on Facebook or the news this evening about 10 puppies rescued from a hot car. The puppies are under medical supervision from a veterinarian. Since this is an ongoing OSP case we cannot comment any further on their status or future adoptability but will update everyone as soon as we can. Thank you for your support."
