Starbucks Starting to Test Reusable Cups

More and more companies are trying to come up with ways to reduce their waste, and Starbucks is no exception. All those customers translates into a lot of disposable cups, so they are now doing their part to bring that down.

The company just launched a new reusable cup initiative, and are testing out the feasibility of reusable cups at London’s Gatwick airport. The one-month program will provide customers with a borrowed cup instead of a paper or plastic one, and even allows them to take it to go, since they can return it at “Cup Check-In” points inside the airport, at which point they will be washed and returned to Starbucks.

The plan is to have 2,000 reusable Starbucks cups available. There’s no word on whether there are plans to expand the program if successful. The company also hasn’t revealed whether customers will get some sort of financial incentive for using a reusable cup.
