There's a Halloween Prequel to "The Grinch"

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a classic holiday tale we know and love, did you know there’s actually a prequel to the story by Dr. Seuss? It’s called Halloween is Grinch Night and while it came out after the original, the story is set before. It first aired as an animated TV special back in 1977 for Halloween, naturally.

Like the Christmas version, Halloween is Grinch Night is about the Grinch terrorizing the Whos down in Whoville, but this time, his evil plan is nipped in the bud by a kid named Euchariah, instead of little Cindy-Lou Who. Dr. Seuss wrote it 20 years after How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which was published way back in 1957.

The Halloween story was a hit, in fact it was so well received that it won the 1978 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Children's Program. And get this, it wasn’t the only other Grinch TV special. In May 1982, The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat premiered and it also won an Emmy. Who knew there were all these Grinch stories out there?
